Japan delegation meets Modi, palns Rs 5000-crore eco-township in Dahej,Gujarat
A high-level delegation from japan called on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday and made a proposal to set up a Rs. 5000 -crore eco-township at dahej.
The nine-member delegation,led by Chairman of japan decelopment Institute Dr Shoichi Kobayashi, has proposed to set up an eco township modeled on Kitakyushu toenship in japan in Delhi Mumbai Industrial corridor (DMIC) area here another township GRMAZ at Dahej, said a government release.
Planned on 500-acre land, the proposal, put up before Modi on Wednesday, includes a dozen-odd satellite eco-towns across Gujarat-each on 10 to 15 acres in pollutinf industrial area of Ahemdanad,Surat, Vapi, Panoli, jamnagar, kutch and Alang, The Japanese government has offered to turn Alang into an eco-friendly destination. To be jointly developed with Gujarat Environment Protection and Infrastructure Ltd (GEPIL), a private company promoted by Luthra group, the proposal aims at recycling and recovering 90 per cent of the industrial waste and reuse it as raw material. Details of the Japanese funding are being finalised.
The delegation members stressed that Japan is keen to make investment in the state, Which is industrializing rapidly, it said.
the members also discussed various sectors like ship building, ship recycling, wind energy and fisheries with the Chief Minister and senior government officials.
