About DMIC


India’s most ambitious Infrastructure programme aiming to develop new industrial cities as “Smart Cities” and develope DMIC as a “Global Manufacturing and Trading Hub”. The programme has been conceptualised in partnership and collaboration with Government of Japan. Called as the “Golden Corridor”

Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor is conceived to be developed as “Global Manufacturing and Trading Hub” supported by world class infrastructure and enabling policy framework

A high impact industrial area within 150 km distance on both sides of the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC), with an investment potential of US$ 90 billion:

  1. Being laid down between Delhi and Mumbai, DFC is a new rail transportation system with high axel, multi modal and computerised features
  2. 38% (564 km) of the 1500 km length of DFC will pass through Gujarat
  3. DMIC area to be developed as ‘Global Manufacturing & Trading Hub’ in two phases (6 nodes) – supported by world class infrastructure & enabling policy framework
  4. Expected to triple industrial output in five years
  5. The influence area covers:
  • 62% of total area of Gujarat (18 out of 26 districts within the influence area)
  • Investment potential for Gujarat is US$ 50 bn (60% of total investment potential in DMIC)
  • Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor to be developed as “global manufacturing & trading hub”- supported by world class infrastructure & enabling policy framework
  • DMIC Influence Area in Gujarat includes:
  • 18 districts out of 25
  • 74% of population (37 mn)
  • 29 of 53 SEZs
